A few Months of waiting on God's Plan.....

By late July...
It was clear to both my husband and I that adoption is God's plan and that we were indeed going to adopt...
Wow! We were ready! I remember sitting with my husband and trying to decide where to adopt from, because we could not start a home study til that was a definite! (we could but it would help a lot if we had narrowed down a country from where to adopt from). We agreed to continue to pray for God's leading to help us find our awaiting child. Of course the next thing to cross my husbands mind...as the bread winner of the family; how much does a home study cost? How much does adoption cost? I was told that our home study would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $1600.00 Of course, this was a little concerning but we were still sure about God's plan for our family and I assured my husband God's will...His bill.
When we are stepping out in obedience, the enemy is on high alert...and the attack begins....It did'nt take very long for me to realize this when the following week my dishwasher and garage door just stopped functioning.  We were contacted about 2 other separate financial matters as well ...in the same week!!! Alright enemy, not going down...we know who has already been victorious in the battle! "Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows, But take heart, because I have overcome the world." (John 16;33)
My heart was full of Joy that our Heavenly Father has promised us victory.  However, even with victory, I was a bit discouraged about this attack and the constant stresses of finances getting in the way of moving forward with our home study; I would keep praying and standing on His Word.....month after month..if need be.
The night before we got the email about an adoption disruption, we read together in the book of  Ephesians..."Long ago, even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. His unchanging plan has always been to ADOPT us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure." (Eph 1:4,5) God created adoption...the greatest gift of all through His son Jesus...and His plan was unchanging!!!
We got the life changing email around the beginning of December. Jerry said to me, can we have him here by Christmas?? That would have been amazing...but let me be the first to tell you that even gathering information about adopting from a disruption is a lot more difficult than i had anticipated. Not to discourage anyone, in fact, both, families that are disrupting their adoption and families that are seeking to adopt from a disruption need more support and accurate information! Just saying!!! Thus the beginning of the learning process began.

I want to be clear that adoption disruption is not necessarily all sunshine and roses...Each family who is disrupting is unique and although some may disagree, these families are going through heartbreak, shame and guilt, that seems to be impacted by the lack of grace and support extended from the body of Christ. Yes, the children that are being disrupted need families and healing, this is clear!!!Even if we don't understand the family's situation, they need support without condemnation, but in love. We have been communicating with the family disrupting their adoption and have had much support from family and mutual friends that are not only supporting but extending God's grace in love and encouragement! We are truly blessed that God has clearly put all these things in place for both of our families!
So, where are we in the process?..Our home study is only a couple weeks from being complete...and I am praying that the foster care license that is required, will be issued around the same time:)  I remember someone telling me as we shared about beginning our adoption journey ..that if we tithed to the church and are obedient to God than we should have the financial provision for this adoption.  I was stunned to say the least!
Knowing full well That God is our provider, I do believe that God is not only able and willing, but wanting to help us with provision for this adoption.  Not because of anything we do or don't do..God loves us unconditionally!  Our Heavenly Father loves the amazing little guy who is now needing a family unconditionally!!    Clearly,  He doesn't say anywhere in any of the 60 some verses talking about Orphans, widows or the least of these..that only the wealthy should help!  Sadly, I believe that the enemy uses money and the lack of it to discourage the family of God to step out in faith and adopt! A comment like the one mentioned above could really have an impact on someone about to dive in head first to adopt!! God tells us otherwise...Jesus said, so many times do not be afraid and to pray without ceasing! We are praying and keeping our eyes upon Him.
